ABOUT

IMG_8558.jpeg

I made my professional debut at the age of twelve in the title role of Annie and went on to play numerous children's roles in both theatre and television including playing the role of Barbara Boyer in The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole and The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole for Thames Television. I left school in 1986 to join the company of Crossroads for Central TV, playing the role of Sara Briggs for two years. To mark the end of Crossroads I was thrilled to be asked to release the single "Goodbye" for RCA/BMG and then in 1990 Andrew Lloyd Webber cast me as Christine in The Phantom Of The Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre where I made history as the youngest actress in the world to play this role.

Regular listeners to radio will have heard me warbling away in many appearances on Friday Night is Music Night and for the BBC Radio 2 Musicals series as Young Sally in Follies at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane with Julia McKenzie and Denis Quilley, Kristine in the 20th Anniversary recording of A Chorus Line, Grete Schone in The Dancing Years and Princess Maria in Call Me Madam with Tyne Daly.

As a concert artist I have been lucky enough to have sung all over the world with many top orchestras from the Royal Philharmonic to the Hong Kong Symphony and I perform regularly in Singapore, Jakarta & Kuala Lumpur with the Stars of the West End, I regularly guest for Michael Ball and with the duo It Takes Two with West End veteran Glyn Kerslake and my trio The Rat Pack Dolls..

"Well, after 30 years as a West End leading lady I wanted a change!! Having played some of the most coveted roles in musical theatre the challenge was to continue singing and performing in the best international venues but not as the same character month on month!" INTERVIEW: Shona Lindsay

“ As a concert artiste Shona Lindsay is something else, a performer with effortless ease and a belting voice. A highly entertaining performer wins her audience over with irrepressible energy and talent. With UK stars like this who needs US talent?” THE INDEPENDENT

"Shona Lindsay shone like a Christmas star in solos and duets from musical theatre. You And I from Chess, sung thoughtfully, was one highlight, and another was Shona’s tender Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from The Phantom Of The Opera." Review: Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

"Shona Lindsay who brought gasps from the audience with a fine voice of huge range and power. She's also no mean actress – as shown by the wicked wit and operatic excess she injected into the satirical Glitter and be Gay from Bernstein's Candide. In the second half she brought tenderness and warmth to old favourites .......No wonder the audience loved it." Review: Hallé : Royal Concert Hall, by William Ruff
